Lips: A Portrait Challenge

I have been painting since I was a student at Grand View, but it was around 4 years ago that I decided to approach ongoing displays almost as commissions. Since I love to paint & I am always up to a good challenge it only made sense to put work in front of people that they would enjoy.

This past week when I discussed potential paintings with Ellen from Leona Ruby she mentioned lips as an option. I instantly jumped at the opportunity and started to work on (4) 5x5" lip themed paintings. I have thoroughly enjoyed painting portraits since my senior show in college and the idea of capturing such an identifiable part of the face was very appealing.

Let me know your thoughts and if you're up to it suggest a challenge or two. Stay tuned as I am already working on a larger lip themed painting (36x36").
